the Internal Revenue Service and hundreds of its community partners nationwide will mark EITC Awareness Day to make working families aware of this important tax credit. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) provides one of the largest tax breaks to working families and individuals and provides a critical financial boost to millions of people each year. 

Last year, in Florida, approximately 1.7 million people received $3.6 Billion in benefits. The average credit was over $2100. Yet, one of four eligible taxpayers fails to claim EITC. 

An expanded EITC can now provide working families making less than $48,000 with three or more children a tax credit of up to $5,600.
